Day 241 ~ Checklist

It was our last day in Port Dover, and there was a checklist in effect:
  • Gold Pig
  • Mini golf
  • Merry-go-round
  • Pressed penny machine.
  • Beach
I didn't get a picture of the mini golf, but we got everything on the checklist checked off.  The girls had their picture taken with the pig last year, so we had to do the same thing this year.

Day 240 ~ Beaching in Port Dover

I'm surprised to see this kind of beach in Ontario, having grown up in New Brunswick.  But there you have it...surf, sand, and lighthouses.
And some quiet time after a busy day in the sun.  We've discovered that Mason loves Finding Nemo.  What a find!

Day 239 ~ Partying in Port Dover

Our first night in Port Dover - the children are in bed, and the adults get to hang out outside the rooms.  Gotta love motels!!!  No wonder they were so popular in the 70's when roadtrips were The Great Family Vacation.

Day 227 ~ Home Sweet Home

Everyone was pretty happy to be getting out of the car after a two-day road trip. The kids were troopers - I never would have thought that driving from Toronto to Moncton would be this easy.

Day 226 ~ Early Morning

On the road at 5:33am...We've got 1600kms to cover in the next two days. Leaving this early means the kids are still sleepy, so they're pretty quiet for the first hour, then they fall asleep for about 2 hours. We can drive for 4 hours without any complaints from the backseat.

Day 225 ~ Mini Putt

We had a fun afternoon of Mini Putt at Crystal Palace.  The picture quality isn't the best, but I only had my phone with me.

Day 224 ~ Nowhere to Run

Mason loves to touch everything around him.  In this case he was into the diaper bag, and took out the tube of Vaseline.  As soon as he makes eye contact with me, he runs away laughing.  Unfortunately in this case, he backed himself into a corner...At least when I take the stuff away he's mostly resigned, and off again to search for more contraband.

Day 223 ~ Lobster

mmmm....dinner.

Day 222 ~ Friends

The kids had a great day with friends that we don't see often enough.

Day 220 ~ Paying Fines

This is me paying my husband's speeding ticket.  Good times.

Day 219 ~ Crystal Place, Part 2

Another day spent at Crystal Palace...I remember when it opened in 1990 (I know this because the staff are all wearing 20 Year Anniversary shirts), we thought it was so cheesy.  And useless.  My 18 year old self had no idea what a blessing it would be when you have young children in tow.  If I lived in Moncton, I might never go.  But my children beg to go anytime we visit.
This time daddy was with us, so I was able to duck into Chapters to enjoy my Skinny Vanilla Latte and browse for a bit.
I bought these bags at Chapters - they were originally 25$, with a 75% discount, so 6$ a bag.  Three kids, 3 bags.  Love them.
And this is Morgan's favorite ride....she must have gone 20 times the first day we came, and another 20 times today.  This is her favorite seating position, under the 'M', for Morgan.

Day 218 ~ Another Beach Day

Another day spent at the beach.  Mason was really enjoying the strawberries.

Day 217 ~ Beach Bums

I love this beach...it's pretty deserted, which means that it's easy to keep track of the kids.  Yes, those specks in the distance are my children, and this is me reading a book.  Mason was sleeping back at the cottage under daddy's care.
And Mason is practising his surfer moves.

Day 216 ~ Ontario Peaches

It's like they followed me to New Brunswick...These were calling my name in the grocery store...not quite ripe, though, which is why they're in with the bananas.

Day 215 ~ Beach on a Cloudy Day

It was cloudy today, and the kids were getting antsy so we walked down to the beach.  It was our first day at my sister's cottage.  Mason and I walked down first.
This was only Mason's 2nd time playing with sand...At least he wasn't putting as much in his mouth today.
He loves to discover the world around him.  Always moving, touching, picking up things.
The others eventually joined us.  Then it started to rain, and we had to hurry back to the cottage.

Day 214 ~ Centennial Park

I have fond memories of Centennial Park...it doesn't look anything like what I remembered, but it's awesome.  Morgan has just recently learned how to do the swings by herself.  What a milestone!
Mason also loves the swing.

Day 213 ~ Family Reunions

Today was a huge family reunion of my maternal grandfather's family.  There were 161 people at the reunion, and there were many people missing.  Sean thinks we're all in-breeding here, and that I was sent to Ontario for a fresh bloodline.  This is Connor and my cousin's son...they only see each other about once a year.
And our own little family.

Day 212 ~ High School Reunion

Whoa....20 year high school reunion.  It was great to see friends from years past.  Michelle and I met the summer before we started high school, and on the first day of high school, realized that we had many classes together.  It was the beginning of a long and enduring friendship.

Day 211 ~ If you need me, I'll be in my Office

This is where we find the baby in my parents' house when things get too quiet and we start looking for him.  If we're lucky, the shower has dried and he doesn't have a wet bum.

Day 210 ~ Crystal Palace

A trip to Moncton just isn't complete without a day in Crystal Palace.
