January 18th, 2011 ~ Mischief

Our official team photographer took these pictures.  Mason is a little explorer at the arena - his favorite is trying to run down the ramp to the other side of the rink without Mommie catching him.  His other favorite is the automatic door opener...Press the button, and like magic, the door opens!  You then look around to see if anybody is watching, and if not dart through the door as fast as possible!  He looks so sweet in these pictures - don't be fooled, he's a mischievious little devil!

And then there's me after chasing him around for 45 minutes.  I need a rest!

January 16, 2011 ~ Haircut

Sean took Mason to get his first haircut - or to "de-mullatize" him, as the stylist put it. He's such a little boy!!

January 14, 2011 ~ Scarves

Ok...I had a crazy plan this week...I've seen the hockey moms wear these scarves, and have been wondering where they get them.  So at Sunday's game I stopped a mom and asked her - turns out one of the grandmothers was making them.  So I checked it out, saw how simple it was, and since fabric is on sale right now, a plan had formed.  On Monday night I stopped by Fabricland to buy fabric, and lucked out in finding the colours to match the kids' uniforms.  My friend Cathy had offered to lend me her rotary cutter, so I stopped by her house to pick it up.  When I got home, I thought "oh I'll just try it to see how it works"....an hour later I had cut thirty strips.  Then I decided I should put one together to make sure I was cutting the right size (probably could have done that earlier, but it all turned out ok).  So I made thirty of these this week - one for each of the moms, sisters, one player and a few grandmothers.  We are going to the U.S. for a tournament in February, so the kids will be able to spot us in the stands.  All in all, it was a grand success.  I even made two short ones for Mason and another boy to swing around at the games.  So this is the result of 12 metres of fleece, 90 strips cut, 2 spools of thread and 12 hours of work ( 6 of which were just cutting the fringes on all these scarves).

January 10, 2011 ~ Jam Monster

Toast and jam is a favorite around here....we only get him dressed AFTER he's had breakfast, for obvious reasons.

January 6, 2011 ~ Ring Around the Rosie

Mason's new favorite game.  He insists on his siblings joining in as well.

January 5, 2011 ~ Breakfast & Hockey

This is a school day breakfast.  The kids have soooo much energy in the morning!  Talking, laughing, joking...I can't imagine what  the classroom looks like first thing in the morning, with 20 of these kids!
The kids stayed up until 9pm (on a school night!!) to watch Canada beat Russia.  Unfortunately, I had to break the news to them in the morning that the 3-0 lead ended up in a 5-3 loss.  Connor wanted a breakdown of every single goal - player positions, puck position, was it a top shot, five hole?!?  I guess I'm going to have to pay more attention to hockey games so I can give rundowns the next day.
