Gold!!

I LOVE the Olympics.  So of course we had to have a party to watch the men win the Gold Medal - even if the game was at 7am, and even if we had a party to go to the night before and were up until 1AM.  Let`s just say that I was VERY tired for the rest of the day.

On the menu for breakfast:  sausage, bacon, pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh baked croissants, cinnamon rolls, fruit tray.

Cookie Obsession

Okay - I always need a project in January/February to get through the winter months without going crazy....something to ease the transition between a completely crazy December and a completely crazy February (since Valentine's day and Morgan's birthday are so close together).  So this year's obsession: DECORATED COOKIES!!!  Love these things.  It started when Morgan said she wanted a birthday party at a local circus school.  So I googled circus theme decorations, and came across some awesome circus tent cookies.  And some great thank you cookies - both were on this site. Morgan gave up the circus idea, but the cookies were still on my mind.  So I did a practice run in January, and this week was the real thing.  Of course, I then decided I needed to make Valentine's Day cookies as well (and I may have a plan for the rest of the year - hockey jerseys, St. Patrick's day, Easter, birthdays, gymnastics, Canada Day....you get the idea....).

In my search, my favorite blogs were Bake at 350 and Sweetopia

So this is my first batch:

I have since gone to Home Sense and picked up some cookie cutters. Also spent some time at Michaels for cookie cutters, frosting colour gels, those cute treat bags.  I've also ordered quite a few cookie cutters from CheapCookieCutters.com

This week I`m planning to make little Boston Bruins hockey jerseys for Mason`s end-of-year hockey party this weekend.  My plan is to have each of the kids` names and jersey numbers on the cookies.  Stay tuned!

Timbit Jamboree

Today was the Timbit Jamboree at Copps Coliseum.  So much fun!  I`ve gone to these before, but it was when Connor was 4 and 5, and I was dragging an unhappy toddler (and all her gear) with me.  This time I had a nine year old with me - much easier!!

Waiting to get on the big ice!!

Having fun!

It's fun having daddy on the ice!

The former toddler - now much easier to travel with!

This Tim Horton's cup was a highlight.

Bruiser is pretty cool too.

He LOVES his medal.

He specifically wanted "the clowny one" to do his face painting.

A great ending to a super fun day!

Nine Years Old!!

Well, another birthday!  Crazy how time flies.  Here`s the birthday girl.

The birthday girl requested a Koala cake - so I made two!  I followed these instructions to put it together.

She was very distraught that we had to cut these and eat them :D.
