So....a friend tells me at dinner that there's a Tornado watch on for the evening. "No, no, I say, that's for Lake Huron...". Nope, she tells me they've changed it to our area. As Sean is away, the evening is pretty busy. Baby goes to bed at 8, the two others finally go to bed at 9PM. So I decide to turn on the weather network to see what's going on. Tornado Warning flashes in red at the bottom of the screen...."Seek Cover". What?!? So I look outside, and the thunder and lightening has started. The rain is coming down pretty hard. I head back upstairs to Connor's room, where the older two are sleeping tonight. They are sitting up in bed, and Morgan is scared. So I tell them to come downstairs to the family room. It's only 9:30, summer, so no school tomorrow. I get them both settled on the sofa, then check outside again. The thunder and lightning is pretty crazy, and the rain is looking kind of horizontal. Now I've left the baby sleeping upstairs by himself...doesn't seem like the wisest solution. Back up I go. When I get to Mason's room, he's sitting up in bed going "I scared! Scared mommy!" Decision made - everybody to the basement! So this is where we spent the next two hours. The older two were playing UNO, and Mason was pretty enthralled with all the new toys around him - the basement is unfinished, and a dumping ground for all toys that aren't played with regularly. So he's never seen most of these. I'm using the time to clean up the mayhem that is the basement. I started because I had to clear the couch, and then just kept on going. Mason watched his iPad, eventually the older two fell asleep, but Mason just thought it was party time. At 11:30, I went back up to check the Weather Network, and they were giving the all clear, so everyboy went back up to their own beds. Note to self: get working on that Emergency Kit they keep telling us about!!
