June 26 ~ Triathlon

We entered the kids in a triathlon, and today was the day.  The weather was awesome, the kids were in great spirits.  Pre-competition:
The Athletes:

Morgan went first...she had a 25 metre swim, 1km bike ride, and 500 metre run.  This is her game face:

This was her "swim"....ok, there were a few snags...she did not want to get into the pool.  But that's the beauty of kids triathlons - if they're not comfortable, they don't do it - no problem.

She was really psyched for her bike ride.  We took off the training wheels about a month ago, and have been practising ever since.  It really paid off, because she was a champ on the bike course.

Then came the running.  Here she is approaching the finish line.

And receiving the medal, which she proudly brought to school the next day (along with the trophy from the gymnastics gala)

Mission accomplished - what a confidence booster!

Next it was Connor's turn.  He had a 50 metre swim, 2km bike, 1km run.

He swam like a champ.

Transition area with a volonteer.

Bike course - we tried to lift his seat before the competition, but couldn't....so he rode his bike as it was, poor guy.  We did stop by the bike shop people aferward, and they adjusted both his seat and his handlebars.  He still handled the course like a pro.  At one point, I shouted out "One more lap to go", and he just shook his head, as if to say "What!? I thought I was done!".  So cute.

And finally the run...he did not stop running until he passed the finish line.

The two stars!!
